Fetal Demise
Fetal Demise - Abnormal Yolk Sac Case # 25604 Patient is multi-gravida and presented with light vaginal spotting, no complaint of pain and positive pregnancy test. First image trans-abdominal demonstrates an poorly defined intra-uterine pregnancy. Second image demonstrated a fetal pole and amnion (to lower left of image) and a hypoechoic complex mass measured with calipers on image. No yolk sac is present, and as this is well organized, it was thought to represent an abnormal yolk sac. No fetal heart tones are present. Patient had a subsequent D&C performed 2 days later.
